MILOSAO — Popoli e Culture APS is a non-partisan, non-profit association that promotes intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, active citizenship and cooperation between people and communities. It was founded in 2025 as the evolution of ASAL Student, building on an experience begun in 2007 and developed in Lecce since 2010.
Our story
From ASAL Student to MILOSAO
The story of MILOSAO begins with A.S.A.L., founded in 2007 by Italian and Albanian students with the aim of building a bridge between the university world, migrant communities and the local area.
In December 2010 this experience evolved into ASAL Student, active in Lecce in social promotion, intercultural education, the protection of rights and youth participation.
In 2025 MILOSAO — Popoli e Culture was born, gathering this legacy and projecting it towards a broader commitment across Italy, Albania, the Balkans and the Mediterranean.
A.S.A.L. is founded by Italian and Albanian students.
ASAL Student is born, active in Lecce in social promotion.
MILOSAO — Popoli e Culture APS is born, with a new identity and vision.
Our mission
To foster encounter and cooperation between people of different backgrounds, promoting a society founded on solidarity, dignity, equality and mutual respect. We create educational, cultural and social opportunities that strengthen youth participation and the inclusion of migrants.
Our vision
We imagine communities in which cultural, linguistic and social differences are recognised as a value. We want open, welcoming and participatory territories, where every person can express their identity, exercise their rights and contribute to collective life.
