Valbona Jakova’s Poetry Collection “On the Ridge of the Heart” Presented in Lecce
Il 15 aprile, presso il Convitto Palmieri di Lecce, sarà presentata la raccolta poetica “Sul Crinale del Cuore” di Valbona Jakova. L’evento è promosso da “Vatra Jonë”, ASAL Student e Besa Muci, con il patrocinio del Comune di Lecce.
The Albanian language school “Vatra Jonë”, ASAL Student and Besa Muci Publishing House, with the patronage of the Municipality of Lecce, are promoting the presentation of “Sul Crinale del Cuore” – “On the Ridge of the Heart”, a poetry collection by Albanian poet Valbona Jakova.
The event will take place on 15 April at Convitto Palmieri, in Piazzetta Carducci, in the heart of Lecce. The presentation will offer an important opportunity to bring together literature, cultural identity and dialogue between communities.
Valbona Jakova is a respected Albanian poet who has received numerous awards in international poetry competitions. Her writing is distinguished by its ability to transform intimate emotions and personal experiences into reflections with a universal meaning.
In “On the Ridge of the Heart”, readers are guided through a poetic journey shaped by deep and contrasting emotions. Love, nostalgia, loneliness and hope become the central themes of verses that explore memory, relationships and the individual’s inner world.
The title itself suggests a delicate point of balance, a symbolic border between vulnerability and strength, loss and renewal. Through sensitive and evocative language, the author invites readers to recognise their own emotions and rediscover poetry as a space for listening, sharing and personal awareness.
The presentation will provide an opportunity to learn more about Valbona Jakova’s literary journey, explore the main themes of the collection and listen to selected poems from the book.
The event forms part of the work carried out by the organising partners to promote the Albanian language and culture, encourage community participation and create opportunities for dialogue with the local community in Lecce and the wider Salento area.
The collaboration between the “Vatra Jonë” Albanian language school, ASAL Student, Besa Muci Publishing House and the Municipality of Lecce highlights the importance of culture as a means of connecting people, generations and different traditions.
