ASAL Student Becomes MILOSAO – Popoli e Culture: A New Identity for an Organisation Looking to the Future

From 2025, ASAL Student officially becomes MILOSAO – Popoli e Culture, opening a new phase in the organisation’s journey.

This is not simply a change of name. It is an important transition that reflects the organisation’s development, the growth of its activities and its ambition to express its cultural and social mission more fully.

Over the years, ASAL Student has built valuable experiences, partnerships and initiatives focused on participation, education, knowledge and dialogue among people from different backgrounds. This heritage will not be left behind. On the contrary, it forms the foundation of MILOSAO’s renewed identity.

An evolution built on continuity

The new name was chosen to better describe an organisation whose work has expanded over time. Its activities are no longer addressed exclusively to students but involve young people, adults, families, communities, artists, professionals, associations, institutions and citizens interested in culture and social participation.

MILOSAO – Popoli e Culture, meaning “Peoples and Cultures”, therefore represents a broader and more inclusive vision. It reflects the diversity of the people, communities and experiences involved in the organisation’s initiatives.

The transition fully preserves the values that have guided ASAL Student since its beginnings:

The words “Popoli e Culture” clearly express the association’s mission: to create opportunities for exchange, encourage mutual understanding and promote initiatives connecting Albanian, Italian and international communities.

MILOSAO aims to be a space where identities do not remain isolated but engage with one another. It seeks to create an environment in which culture becomes a tool for dialogue, understanding and active citizenship.

A broader mission

Through its renewed identity, the organisation intends to consolidate and further develop its work in the fields of culture, art, education, inclusion, historical memory, intercultural dialogue, citizenship, youth participation and the promotion of tangible and intangible heritage.

MILOSAO’s activities may include cultural events, public meetings, book presentations, exhibitions, film and documentary screenings, workshops, educational programmes, social initiatives, cultural visits, international exchanges and projects dedicated to the promotion of traditions.

Particular attention will continue to be given to strengthening connections between Italy, Albania and Albanian communities abroad, while also encouraging dialogue with other cultures and contributing to the development of a more open, aware and inclusive society.

The transition from ASAL Student to MILOSAO represents a natural evolution. An organisation that has grown over time is choosing a name capable of supporting new responsibilities, partnerships and ambitions.

The name and visual identity are changing, and the organisation’s vision is expanding. However, its energy, commitment and determination to bring people together through culture remain unchanged.

MILOSAO will continue the work developed over the years while reaching new audiences and strengthening cooperation with associations, cultural institutions, public authorities, schools, universities and local communities.
