The article, entitled “Albanians in Salento Gather on Flag Day”, describes a day dedicated to identity, memory and intercultural dialogue. The initiative brought together Albanians living in the area and created a space to share migration experiences, integration stories and connections with their country of origin.
The programme included a public discussion on the experiences of the Albanian community, with contributions from representatives of associations, cultural organisations, academia and religious communities. Participants included the “Vatra Jonë” Albanian Language School, ASAL Student and local associations, members of the Church of Saint Nicholas of the Greeks and other organisations committed to promoting Albanian culture.
The celebration also featured music and traditional dances, turning the national anniversary into an open and inclusive cultural event for the city.
The article also included a contribution from Lindita Ngresi, who highlighted the importance of celebrating Flag Day not only as a commemoration of Albanian independence, but also as an opportunity to present the Albanian community’s social and cultural contribution to the people of Salento.
